I recently saw an intriguing article that discussed the biggest ways in which gardening has changed in the past 25 years. the general consensus seems to be organic and all-year gardens are the two biggest changes. I wonder if this consensus holds true for most of us gardeners.

I’ve definitely seen a spike in organic gardening. Year-round gardening is picking up speed as well. Hydroponic systems that fit in your window or on the counter really help keep people growing all year long. There are so many wonderful DIY systems to implement, one shouldn’t think they have to be limited to their natural seasonal growth cycles. πŸ™‚

I love that the Cream Cup-o-Cakes say ‘vegan’ instead of the same old curlicues you see everywhere. What a cute idea!

Thanks, Amber! We had to do something to let you know that while this yummy cake may look familiar, we’ve got some delicious vegan surprises inside. πŸ™‚

Sounds great and looks delicious! What about some goodies for us (vegan) celiacs and other gluten-intolerant people? Any plans to offer some gluten-free goodies? Pleeeeease?!

    • Barrie February 6, 2012 at 11:40 am # Reply

Oops, never mind. I just read in your FAQ that this is not something you intend to do.

We are a very small bakery (just us two) at the moment, and we just don’t have the space to dedicate to gluten-free baking. We wouldn’t feel right promising that our treats are gluten-free when we cannot create them in their own dedicated space where we can guarantee none of the utensils, surfaces, ingredients, etc… will come in contact with gluten products. Just sifting flour creates a gluten dust cloud. Well, it does if you sift like I do. lol It is something to work towards as we grow. Thank you for stopping by and offering some support, we appreciate it!

I’ve been waiting impatiently for a vegan bakery in WNC! Thank you!
My favorite combo is anything with chocolate and peanut butter.

I’m a big fan of that combo, too. πŸ™‚ Thank you for being there to lend support to a new small business. We’ll work hard to please you!

I am happy to see more vegan shops opening up. I live in Asheville but work in Black Mountain, so now when I do not have time to make vegan goodies for my co-workers I can visit your shop. I hope the shop has great success. I know I will be telling everyone about it!

    • veggiemaster February 7, 2012 at 9:13 am # Reply

Thank you for the words of support! We put all our tofu eggs in the basket to get here and open up shop. Life is short, you gotta try to chase down those dreams and spread the joy of what you do around you. Thanks so much! πŸ™‚

πŸ™‚ You got it, Nanette! You’ve just got to promise to eat them correctly– sneak away…shut the door, take a deep breath and devour…slowly…don’t miss that drop of melted chocolate. Now, just sit with it. Let it melt into you. Repeat. lol

Just wanted to second the gluten free request! although i do not have celiac diseasae, i do appreciate you attention to and awareness of the challenges of making truly gluten free items for those who can’t have it all. Maybe you could just have some items that are gluten free in terms of ingredients, but clear that it is produced in a facility that is not gluten free if it’s not feasible to have a separate space for truly GF baking.

Thanks and Everything sounds wonderful…I wish you much success!
